Following a legendary playoff-hole victory in 2023, Commissioner Brian "Caesar" Wells headed into 2024 balancing a title defense, a new venue at Salt Fork, and a few off-field concerns. He handed the planning to his trusted senators — Jaron Barnes and Kyle Hess.
Big mistake. Barnes and Hess had been plotting a coup for years. They picked a course, stole Caesar's favorite teammate, and claimed the 2024 title for themselves. The king was dead. Long live the kings.
Twenty golfers arrived at Apple Valley in the first weekend of August to decide who would wear the crown next.
Now, our intrepid group of 16 BL golfers are tasked with overthrowing these usurpers and establishing a new champion for 2025. Will one team rise to the occasion and answer the call, going low enough to earn the title belt in front of god and the lovely sirens of the Apple Valley clubhouse? Or will Halliwell, Barnes, Hess and Haury's reign of terror continue?
We will find out in the first weekend of August.
Craig Ripley was playing his best golf in years, and the rest of the group backed it up with some miraculous putting. Teaming with Aaron Haney, Rob Vargas, and Kevin Stowe, the foursome birdied every hole on the back nine to close out an event-record 13-under — four strokes clear of the field.
The coup succeeded. Halliwell, Barnes, Hess, and Haury's reign ended at exactly one title, and a new team took the Bronze Lady home. It was Aaron Haney's seventh win, officially making him the most decorated Bronze Lady golfer to date, while Craig Ripley's all-around weekend earned him the 2025 Gold Putter MVP.
